Getting started
- Add a contact: open the setup screen, tap to add a person, choose a photo from your library, and type their phone number.
- Make a call: on the main screen, tap a person's photo. Confirm, and the call begins.
- Set the order: press and hold a photo, then drag it where you want it.
- Protect setup: turn on a PIN so contacts can't be changed by accident.
Common questions
How do I add someone to PhotoCaller?
Open the setup screen, choose to add a contact, pick their photo from your library, and enter their phone number. They'll appear on the main screen as a tappable photo right away.
What is the PIN for?
The PIN protects the setup screen so the person using the app can't accidentally change or delete contacts. Only someone with the PIN can edit the phonebook. The calling screen always stays open and easy to use.
I forgot my PIN. What can I do?
For security, the PIN cannot be recovered from within the app. If you are locked out of setup, you can reinstall the app to reset it — but note this clears your contacts, so restore from a backup afterwards if you have one. To avoid this, keep your PIN somewhere safe and back up regularly.
How do I change the order of contacts?
Press and hold any photo until it lifts, then drag it to a new position. This lets you put the people who are called most at the very top.
How do I back up and restore my contacts?
From the setup screen you can create a backup, which is saved as a file on your device. To move to a new phone or recover after reinstalling, use the restore option and choose that backup file.
Does PhotoCaller work with international numbers?
Yes. PhotoCaller supports country codes and international numbers, and stores them in the correct format automatically. It also remembers your country so adding new numbers is quick.
Is my information private?
Completely. Your contacts, photos, and numbers stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there are no accounts, ads, or trackers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
The call screen asks me to confirm. Can I remove that?
The confirmation before a call is part of iPhone itself and helps prevent accidental dialing — it's a safety feature, especially helpful for children and elderly users, and cannot be turned off.
